Air Jordan 11 - Reconstructed
Air Jordan 11 - Reconstructed
Duration: 2 Week
Prompt :
Given the pair by my cousin, he said “go crazy with them, I want to see what you can do”
Iterating & Tear Down
After gathering materials and the shoe, deconstruction began. Including the shoe itself, and other smaller bits of fabric, webbing and other materials. These all were gathered with color in mind. Keeping with the colors of the shoe and parts such as the patent leather vamp, which had a pale green underside, I found these materials would work well.
Experimenting
Taking materials and the shoe into account, I started the process of mocking up different parts to the shoe, helping me understand what does and does not work for the design I wanted to bring to life. All this also informing me during my sketching period.
Construction
After receiving feedback from my cousin and others, construction started. Starting with creating the vamp and removing the lace loops. Ending with the final pieces that made up the heel cup. Mostly a straight forward progress, the deconstruction and rebuild of the shoe provided great insights into what goes into a quality pair of shoe.
